The House on Mango Street, a simple yet delightful story about the life of a girl named Esperanza. In chapter “Marin”, Marin is one of Louie’s cousin, which is Esperanza’s neighbor, described a teenage’s dream of Marin. “Marin, under the streetlight, dancing by herself. singing the same song somewhere. I know. Is waiting for a car to stop, a star to fall, someone to change her life. ” (pg. 27). The shadow of a girl dancing alone, singing the same song over and over again, seem very haunting. A girl, waiting for someone, to change her life. It was sad and somehow touching. I find myself loss at words, there is no feeling toward this picture, silence is the only word that fits ideally for the scene.
